Additional Information
  • Steinberg customers posting messages about the products listed above without first storing their Steinberg USB Key number will be asked to do this. Moderators will lock topics of users who have not yet stored their Steinberg USB Key number. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I am using Steinberg products not requiring a Steinberg USB key. What should I do now?
A: If you use a product which does not require a Steinberg USB Key, such as Nuendo version 1.x or older plugins, then don’t worry!  The USB Key profile fields are primarily used for the products mentioned above. If you are a Nuendo 1.x user, please clearly note "Nuendo 1" in your signature.

Q: I do not own Nuendo yet but I would like to gather some first hand pre-purchase information. What do I do?
A: You do not have to fill in the USB Key number field and you can ask any question that is needed for your inquiry of course.

Q: I am using other Steinberg products than Nuendo. Can I post in the nuendo.com forum?
A: If you use another Steinberg product than Nuendo, such as Cubase SX, WaveLab, Virtual Instruments or other plugins, then please use the cubase.net forum.

Q: Why do you exclude Nuendo version 1.x users from entering a key number as well?
A: This is for several reasons. Nuendo version 1.x is a discontinued product. It is also not easy to get the number of the LPT port key. This would mean to open the key physically or to install the Syncrosoft LCC for this purpose only.
We think this would be more hassle than would be acceptable for Nuendo version 1.x users.

Q: I am not using Steinberg products at all but I like the forum and I am a often posting in the Media Lounge. What do I do now?
A:If you are a product specialist of any kind and you feel that you can contribute in a helpful way, then just drop a PM to one of the moderators. Exceptions are tolerated, but closely monitored.

Q: I have entered a number. Can you please validate it for me?
A: Sorry, no. We will validate numbers when it appears to be useful. If there has been a non-valid number entered by you will be asked to correct it. We will also do a mass validation from time to time.

Q: I have more than two Steinberg USB keys. How do I store the additional USB key numbers?
A: You don´t need to do this. The main purpose is to have the number stored of your primarily used products. This USB key may also contain additional licenses or not. If, for example, you have more than one or two Nuendo versions running, it is enough to enter at least one number of the newest/biggest version you use. It is also not required to enter numbers of empty Steinberg USB keys.

Q: I have trouble reading the USB key number! I can´t see a difference between a "0" (zero) and an "O" (letter "O"). What now?
A: If in doubt assume they are 0s (zeros).

Q: Can I also enter the number shown in the Syncrosoft LCC?
A: No, please take the number directly from the USB key. The number in the LCC is only a part of the whole number on the key.
